Bite splints are a small, hard plastic retainer used by patients that clench/grind their teeth or have TMJ (painful popping/clicking of the jaw). It is typically made to fit over your bottom teeth and is worn at night to improve jaw pain and ensure that no further tooth structure is damaged be clenching/grinding.
How it's done
An impression of your upper or lower teeth is taken along with an impression of your bite. The impressions are sent to our lab where they are used to make your splint. After two weeks another appointment is scheduled for you try in the appliance and have it adjusted as needed to be comfortable.
